I was born in Croydon, Surrey and lived in Wallington. When I was about 4 years old my dad was posted to Rhodesia and some years later we were posted to Nairobi and then on to Bahrain where we lived for a few more years and I also started my first job doing shorthand and typing for No.152 Squadron. We moved back to the UK where dad was then posted to RAF Henlow. I met my husband then moved to the RAF Music Services at Uxbridge and soon after that we had daughter number two. As we were surrounded by RAF music and musicians I decided to try and learn to play the guitar and later on my husband taught me to play the trumpet. After a while we moved to Kent to live and I joined the Railway Swing Band when it first started back in 1992. I play the trumpet in the Broadstairs and St Peters Concert Band. I like all kinds of music from Jazz through to Classics. I love playing the guitar in the R.S.B. and really miss the music when I go to Turkey where we stay for a few months each year, luckily Dave doesn't mind me playing in the band when I am back on home ground again |
